MADISON, NJ—Three Madison High School students were selected as semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship this month.
Madison's Sadie Hoberman, Henry Marinovich, and Adam Sher were all chosen from an applicant pool of 1.5 million at more than 21,000 high schools. They were selected based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The Madison students were some of the approximately 16,000 semifinalists nationwide. To become one of the 15,000 expected finalists, students must submit a detailed application, including academic records, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, employment history, and honors or awards received, and a letter of recommendation.
The students will compete for the 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million, scheduled to be awarded next spring.
