This free in-person event is at our new store at The Mark, 117 S. Pineapple. There is the option of an $8 ticket to help defray the cost of the event.About Steven R. Cover: Steven R. Cover is AICP Director of Planning in Sarasota, where he continues his distinguished career. Cover has been an award-winning public servant in Atlanta, Georgia; Fulton County, Georgia; Annapolis, Maryland and Arlington, Virginia. For the city of Atlanta he produced zoning legislation that laid the groundwork for the Beltline Project, a 22-mile loop around the center of the city that includes hiker-biker trails, redevelopment, new development and a proposed streetcar system. He initiated and secured approval of the city’s first Transportation Master Plan and reduced permitting and plan review time by 60-90%. In Annapolis he worked with a developer to revitalize and restore historic inns and taverns in the Downtown Historic District. And in Arlington, Virginia he secured approval of Arlington’s Affordable Housing Master Plan, a plan to promote protection, revitalizing and constructing of new affordable housing in a county with an extremely high cost of living. Cover was also the Planning and Economic Development Director in Madison, WI His honors and awards are many, and include the Center for Civil and Human Rights-International Design Competition Winner - “Outstanding Leadership Award” – AIA Atlanta, Distinguished Achievement in Planning Award-Georgia Planning Association -“Outstanding Comprehensive Plan Award,” Maryland Planning Association. Cover earned a master’s of Architecture and a master’s of city planning from Georgia Institute of Technology. .......................................................................................
