Coronavirus: Woonsocket Suspends Interest On Past-Due Payments

WOONSOCKET, RI — Woonsocket has suspended interest and penalties on past due taxes starting April 15 through June 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is due to the economic stress placed on Woonsocket residents, hospitality businesses and other businesses due to the COVID-19 virus. Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt signed the executive order stating: "that no interest or penalties shall accrue for motor vehicles, tangible and real estate taxes due on April 15, 2020, until after June 1, 2020." According to number released by the Rhode Island Department of Health on Wednesday night there are 132 positive test cases of coronavirus in RI.
