Latino Arts, Inc. is thrilled to welcome Grammy Award-winning band, Max Baca & Los Texmaniacs, to the Latino Arts Auditorium on Friday, April 8th, with a special opening performance by the Latino Arts Strings Program! Founded by Max Baca, Los Texmaniacs, is a Tex-Mex folk band composed of Baca (bajo sexto), Josh Baca (accordion), Noel Hernandez (electric bass) and Chris Rivera (drums). The group won a Grammy Award for Tejano Album of the Year for their Smithsonian Folkways Recording “Borders y Bailes.” Bringing elements of polka, waltz and traditional Mexican folk music, Los Texmaniacs combine musical styles to create an engaging and fun musical performance. The Latino Arts Strings Program is a high-quality in-school and after school music education program for students of Bruce-Guadalupe Community School and its graduates. Created in 2002 by Dinorah Marquez, the program engages over 180 participants between the ages of five and seventeen in classical music training to play violin, viola, cello, bass and classical guitar.
