I'm not here to sugar coat or sell a poster board project looking for a A+ in the "business" of childcare. I'm a mom and I currently work outside the home (ALOT🥴) but want to change that. I work with many titles through different agencies ranging from children to elderly (DSP, Home Care Worker, MedTec, etc) I have 7 kiddos, Two full-time and the others part time and at this point?! Let's add a few more. Let me get down to the reality of my home. Things I practice regularly, Boundaries, Accountability, Gratitude, Self Expression, and Anti-Bullying. We get messy, we get fun, we learn through experiencing things together rather than a seminar of why we need to learn things, Aw heck maybe a little seminar while hands on learning. Sometimes it's moment to moment. Each kid has their own individual strengths and what works for one may not work for the other. My kids often say I'm a "Cool mom" because I indulge in some video game time with them (They're usually the teachers because I'm lost on half of it). Kid's minds are absorbing everything and all that they do can be a learning experience. Things that might not make me a "Cool mom": Boundaries🙅‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏼 (Always a work in progress with kids) Hands on rough housing?🤔 Always leads to a bigger but preventable problem (Air karate is acceptable, teachable, and super cool) Accountability😱 (Yes, Little one, you spilt/threw/crushed the cheerios so they need picked up) The forbidden nap per parents request😴💤 Screen time breaks🖥📱🤬 I'm sure there's more thing's I could carry on with but I think we all get it at this point and ultimately it's your child and we can discuss further their needs and accommodations. Our home is a smaller one but safe and full of experiences waiting to happen. Your kids will be included on any family outings we take from eating out to park trips and especially with summer arising. Your kid's won't just be a job or income, They'll work their way into our little tribe of awesome kiddos and be some extra beacons of love around here. In the name of honesty (because we are not a big staffed daycare and are in a smaller home) if your kid is extremely defiant, hands on, or raging we will not be able to accommodate them at this time (Let's discuss their age and challenges, It may just be my magic spot). Yes, I can handle many tantrums, behaviors, and other issues. I can help practice, teach, and skill build with tools that help emotional regulation but not at the cost of the other kid's safety and well being.
