MILFORD, MA — Voters in Milford will head to the polls on Tuesday for the 2022 town election, which will feature three contested races for seats on government boards. Voters in Milford this year will encounter two big changes compared to 2020 and 2021. Pandemic voting rules in Massachusetts have expired, which means most voters will have to go to the polls on April 5 to cast a ballot. No-excuse voting by mail may return at some point, but state lawmakers have not approved new rules. Precincts have also changed this year following the release of Census results in 2021. You can find your new precinct on the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website. Here's everything you need to know about who's on the ballot in 2022, and how to vote. In-person voting Polls will be open in Milford on April 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The town will offer three polling places, depending on your precinct. Precincts 1 and 6 — Milford Senior Center, 60 North Bow St.Precincts 2 and 3 — Italian American Veterans Hall, 4 Hayward FieldPrecincts 4, 5, 7, 8 — Milford Portuguese Club, 119 Prospect Heights Absentee voting Unlike the two previous pandemic elections, absentee voting will only be allowed this year under limited circumstances, just like in elections prior to the pandemic. What's On The Ballot There are 12 races on the ballot in 2022, plus Town Meeting, but only three are competitive. The Milford School Committee race has attracted the most candidates, including incumbent John Erickson, appointed member RJ Sheedy, and challengers Derrick Sobers and Robyn Bratica. Voters can only choose two candidates in that race. Both the Planning Board and Parks Commission races are wide open with no incumbents up for reelection.
