Description
BLOOMFIELD, CT — A new magnet school in Bloomfield has been named after one of the 26 people (20 children and six educators) who died in the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, reported WTNH-TV.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was scheduled to be held Wednesday at the Ana Grace Academy of the Arts Elementary Magnet School, named after 6-year-old Ana Marquez-Greene or Ana Grace, whose parents are Nelba Marquez Greene and Jimmy Greene.
Ana Grace, for whom the Ana Grace Project also was founded, is remembered as a true lover of song and dance.
Her parents are former employees of Capitol Region Education Council, which is operating the school; the Greenes worked with the architects to incorporate color schemes and other finishes that Ana Grace would have liked.
The school is set on a 29-acre property, and it will accommodate up to 850 pre-K through 8th grade students.
