DANBURY, CT — The International Association of Fire Chiefs announced that William Lounsbury, assistant fire chief of the Danbury Fire Department, has been accepted into the Fire Service Executive Development Institute. Lounsbury, a 36-year veteran of the career fire service, competed with new fire chiefs and chief officers from across the country and Canada to become a member of the 2022 cohort program. He began his tenure in Danbury in 1991, and was promoted to assistant chief in September 2021. This is the tenth year that the Motorola Solutions Foundation has provided the IAFC with a grant to fund the program. "On behalf of all of us here at Danbury Fire Department, I can't say enough and how proud we are of Assistant Chief Lounsbury and his accomplishments. He is a true leader and innovator and I am so glad that the staff at the FSEDI program also recognized this," said Danbury Fire Chief Richard Thode in a statement.
