Santee City Council Election 2020: 2 Compete For District 4 Seat

SANTEE, CA — Voters in two council districts will decide in Tuesday's general election which candidate they want to represent them on the Santee City Council. Three candidates are running for two open seats on the council. Santee moved from at-large elections to district elections for the council in 2018. This year, the fourth and final area of the city will be represented in the election. Laura Koval, who currently serves as vice mayor, won a shortened two-year term in 2018 and is running uncontested for the District 3 seat. Koval also serves as director of Park and Recreation for Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve. Two District 4 candidates are competing to replace Councilman Stephen Houlahan, who is running for mayor. Samantha "Samm" Hurst, a public health scientist and college instructor, is facing Dustin Trotter, a business owner and carpenter. Find your council district and view the district map here.
