A deep dive into self-compassion
Kayce is 200-hour certified yoga instructor, and she currently teaches yoga at UREC. Kayce holds her master’s in clinical psychology and is working towards her doctorate at the University of Arkansas.
Kayce’s teaching style incorporates her research on self-compassion and therapeutic principles, which help guide her students to greater acceptance of themselves - on and off the mat. One of Kayce’s students once described her class as a group therapy session for the body and mind.
We are embodied beings- we experience our physical and emotional worlds through our bodies. Our bodies are with us wherever we go; they carry us through each moment of our lives. But, so often, due to cultural messages, trauma, and/or internalized shame, we treat our bodies with contempt and criticism.
What would it be like to experience your body and your emotions differently? What would it be like to tend to yourself compassionately?
This workshop will focus on exploring our bodies and experiences with self-compassion. Kayce will present research on self-compassion and provide opportunities for guided reflection, meditation, and self-compassion exercises. This workshop will also include the opportunity to enact these themes on your mat, through a physical yoga practice. The ultimate hope is that this self-compassion-focused workshop feels like body therapy.
