The Art of Practicing — 3-week on-line workshop April 11th/18th/25th 6:30-9:00pm https://cjc.edu/class-workshop-registration/?eid=68398&edid=269043 If you're an instrumentalist, vocalist, or songwriter/composer (or some combination of those) you've probably sought out coaching on what to practice. But how you practice can have an even bigger impact on your: rate of progress, 2) degree of satisfaction, and 3) ability to notice inefficient habits that can lead to physical injury. This 3-week workshop will be a comprehensive overview of the daily realities of practicing. It will re-invent your relationship with practicing and turn what is mostly unconscious into a world of choice. You'll learn how to design, schedule, and track your practicing using an advance system of practice logs that will generate a genuine sense of accomplishment. Topics from this interactive ZOOM workshop will include: * Defining Healthy Practicing * Creating a Pre-Practice Routine * Skill Building vs. Purely Creative Projects * Three Stages of Composing * Four Stages of Skill Building * Five Variable os Practicing * End-Gaming * Artistic Biorhythms * Impact of Self-Care on Productivity * Debunking "practice makes perfect" Open to students and musicians of all levels, especially those who practice more than one instrument, sing and compose, or work with an additional art form.
