Post Office Plaza Meetings Postponed In Chatham

CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough officials postponed two public meetings regarding redevelopment at Post Office Plaza. The "town hall" discussions — originally set for Wednesday and then Monday — will proceed April 18, the borough announced Tuesday. During the meetings, the Borough Council anticipated discussions in which the public could ask local experts about the redevelopment project and the borough's efforts to meet affordable-housing requirements. "The Borough's experts have advised that very recent developments involving POP require further review and analysis," the borough's news release says. Local officials believe postponing the meetings will allow the borough to provide a more definitive presentation on potential, available concepts for Post Office Plaza. The borough says it will announce a rescheduled date for the second meeting in the next few days. The borough's planner also offered to meet with residents before the April 18 meeting via Zoom to discuss Chatham's affordable-housing requirements and how they related to Post Office Plaza. Planner Kendra Lelie will also answer questions about specific options and ideas residents have proposed.
