HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. INCIDENTS THEFTAn unidentified thief stole an orange wallet from inside the purse of an employee at an unspecified business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road. Someone later used credit cards stolen from the wallet at another merchant, police were told on March 10. PACKAGE THEFTOn March 12, police were notified that two packages delivered by UPS were missing from a home in the 1900 block of Clavey Road. The packages contained sinks and faucets worth about $1,000. STOLEN CARSomeone stole a Honda SUV from the Casey's gas station after it had been left with its engine running and the keys inside shortly after 9 p.m. March 15. The car was found in Waukegan three days later, but it was missing a cell phone, three laptops and an iPad. CAR BURGLARYSomeone stole money from a wallet that had been left on the passenger seat of a Jeep parked overnight in the 1400 block of St. Johns Avenue. It was not known if the car was locked or if anything else was stolen. BICYCLE THEFTSAt some point between 10 p.m. March 25 and 6 a.m. March 26, someone stole a tan Lady Navarro Forza and a purple Schwinn Frontier bicycle that had been left outside a home in the 300 block of Park Avenue. HOME BURGLARYSomeone forced their way into a home in the 1900 block of Browning Court by breaking in through a side door. The interior of the home was ransacked, and several designer purses, jewelry and belts were taken from inside. CRIMINAL DAMAGE Someone cut branches from a cherry tree in the front yard of a home in the 400 block of Pleasant Avenue at some point on or before March 14.Two sections of a fence near the 3100 block of Patten Road were removed on or before the morning of March 16. SHOPLIFTING Staff at the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, reported on March 21 that one or more people had stolen more than $920 worth of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals around 7:30 p.m. the prior evening.Around 9:15 p.m. on March 23, police were told that two male thieves wearing medical masks — one with dark shoulder-length hair, a blazer and a black hat and the other in a light green army jacket with a black puffy vest and cap — stole a variety of unidentified items from the CVS at 2000 Skokie Valley Road and left on foot headed north. GRAFFITI Police got a report of unknown graffiti under a bridge in the 300 block of Cedar Avenue on March 14.Red and black graffiti was reported on a building in the 500 block of Roger Williams Avenue on the evening of March 16, with messages including "pill."On the night of March 16, police got a report of black and red graffiti on a bridge near the 800 block of Baldwin Road with arrows pointing in different directions and the messages, "come or go," and "smoke sesh."On March 17, police got a report of a graffiti tag in white paint on a bridge the first block of Roger Williams Avenue. LICENSE PLATE THEFTS Someone stole a license plate from a Lexus parked in the back lot of a building in the 600 block of Lauren Avenue at some point between March 14 and March 18.At some point on March 22, someone stole both the front and rear license plates from a Land Rover at an unknown location, police were told. CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS Between 5 p.m. March 7 and 6 a.m. March 8 someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked in a driveway in the 1900 block of Beverly Place.Someone stole a catalytic converter from a van parked in a lot in the 800 block of Clavey Road at some point between Oct. 15, 2021, and 2:30 p.m. March 1, police were told on March 9.Two catalytic converters were reported stolen from vans parked in the lot of a plumbing company in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road on March 16.Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Toyota Prius parked in a lot in the 600 block of Central Avenue between March 15 and March 17.Between 9 p.m. March 16 and 6 am. March 17, someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked in the 700 block of St. Johns Avenue.A catalytic converter and exhaust parts were found hanging from a Prius parked at Highland Park Hospital, 777 Park Avenue West, around 1 a.m. on March 22.Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Honda Civic that had been parked in a lot in the 1700 block of Lake Cook Road between March 24 and March 26. ARRESTS/CITATIONS Tevin M. Hoskins, 27, of the 200 block of West Forest Avenue, Round Lake, was arrested around 4 p.m. on March 14 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery. Police reported they were called to Highland Park Hospital, 777 Park Ave. West., for a report of an argument over the name of a newborn child. After striking Hoskins struck a person in the face during the argument, he fled the scene, and officers pulled him over at Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road, police reported. Jill Foos, 54, of the 2900 block of North Sheridan Road, Chicago, turned herself in to Highland Park police around 3:30 p.m. March 17 on a warrant issued in connection with charge of identity theft of less than $300, a class 4 felony. Court records indicate the underlying incident dates back to March 2019 and the warrant was issued the same day Foos surrendered to police. Nathan Angelo Gonzalez, 18, of the 600 block of North Ash Street, Waukegan, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on March 17 following a traffic stop on Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater, reckless driving and speeding more than 35 mph over the limit, all misdemeanors. Police reported he was driving 124 mph in a 55 mph zone headed north past Half Day Road. George A. Luke, 20, of the 1100 block of Meadow Road, Northbrook, was arrested around 7 a.m. on March 19 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after police were dispatched to a report of a car stopped in the left turn lane at Lake Cook and Skokie Valley roads. He was also issued a citation for illegal stopping. Nokuthula G. Vuma, 46, of the 2100 block of Ezekiel Avenue, Zion, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on March 21 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West. She was also issued citations for improper overtaking on the left and speeding between 26 and 35 mph above the limit. Antoinelle L. Brackins, 26, of the 29400 block of North Birch Avenue, Lake Bluff, was arrested around 6 a.m. on March 21 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after he drove into a center median in the 1500 block of Deerfield Road. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage. Maggie B. Dudek, 23, of the 1100 block of Ridge Road, was arrested around 10 a.m. on March 24 and charged with violation of an active order of protection in the 1100 block of Ridge Road. Jorge Fuentes, 27, of the 1100 block of Adams Street, North Chicago, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. on March 27 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving 114 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.
