Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Danielle Fallon, your host of the Grand Rapids Daily. First, today's weather: Not as cool with rain. High: 59 Low: 43. Here are the top three stories today in Grand Rapids: As Kent County risk levels of COVID-19 have dropped, Broadway Grand Rapids announced that it will be relaxing some of its COVID-19 protocols for theater-goers. Ticketholders will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination or negative test, nor will they be required to wear a mask in the theater. However, face coverings are still "strongly recommended," according to Broadway Grand Rapids' website. (WOODTV.com)Cases of the newest COVID-19 variant, BA.2, have officially been reported in West Michigan, including here in Kent. The Kent County Health Department reported six confirmed cases of the BA.2 variant over the last few weeks. While doctors are hopeful another surge is not impending, Dr. Jerry Evans, Mercy Health Muskegon's Chief of Staff, told WZZM 13 that "this is the time to get vaccinated and get your defenses up if that surge does come."
