UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A ZIP code on the Upper West Side has registered more positive COVID-19 tests than any other in New York City over the most recent week the city has data for. The increasing numbers come as the BA.2 omicron subvariant continues to circulate at higher rates within the city and New York state. From March 20 to March 26, the UWS' 10025 ZIP code had 169 new people test positive for COVID, 22 more than the next highest ZIP code during the period. Even more eye-catching, out of the five NYC ZIP codes with the most new COVID cases during the seven-day period, three of them were on the Upper West Side. 10025 (UWS): 169 new positives11211 (Williamsburg): 147 new positives11201 (Brooklyn Heights): 146 new positives 10023 (UWS): 129 new positives10024 (UWS): 128 new positives From March 20 to March 26, Upper West Side ZIP codes also posted some of the highest seven-day positivity rates in the city. Specifically, the 10024 ZIP code's 5.64 percent positivity rate was the 10th highest in the five boroughs during the period. TriBeCa had the highest COVID rate in the city during the week at 9.26 percent, but given the area's small size it is a product of just 25 new locals testing positive.
