WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Board of License Commissioner on Wednesday ordered the Hurricane Betty's strip club to close following a Saturday fatal shooting linked to the club. The commissioners toured the Southbridge Street club Wednesday morning ahead of a hearing over whether the Hurricane Betty's violated its license. The commissioners issued a 10-day suspension, but will only require it to close for five days, according to Spectrum News. Worcester police Sgt. Thomas Needham said a police officer on duty at the club early Saturday morning heard a pop and went to investigate before more shots rang out. The shooting spilled out onto Southbridge Street, where police found the two victims. A 27-year-old man, identified as Deondre Matthews by MassLive, died at the scene. A 32-year-old man was still being treated for injuries, Worcester police Lt. Sean Murtha said Wednesday. If Hurricane Betty's, has any further violations during the next year, it will have to close for an additional five days, according to the report.
