Dear Craigslist Viewer, The Reentry Coalition of Fairbanks could really use your help and/or perspective! Would you be willing to volunteer and/or participate at the Fairbanks Reentry Simulation from (9am - Volunteers - 2pm)(10am – Participants – 1pm) on Thursday April 28, 2022? This free educational outreach event will highlight for participants the barriers and challenges faced by those who are transitioning out of incarceration. The goal of this simulation is for participants to gain an understanding of the significant obstacles faced by men and women attempting to navigate the system upon their release from incarceration and returning home to their communities. To walk in the shoes of one who is returning home gives invaluable insight for professionals who are tasked with helping those individuals achieve a successful reentry. The volunteers needed will help me run the Simulation by facilitating one of the “stations” that reentrants (participants) have to visit during this mock community experience (role play). The event, hosted this year at the Birch Hill Cross Country Ski Center, will start at 10am but volunteer orientation will be at 9am. Lunch from DW Grill will be provided!
