I have a neighbor who smokes on his deck and inside his place. Nightly he wakes me up w smoke coming in my apartment. I have a persian cat who is highly allergic and susceptible to this smell besides the inconvenience of being awakened nightly and clearing out smoke out of my apartment. It’s happening increasingly more frequently. My landlord seems to do little about it and I have found my only option is small claims court. I have little proof except I’ve seen him on his balcony many times and it can only come from his place when this tiny area by my vent starts to fill & smell of smoke. It’s a tiny 5 unit place. I know after a long time of this, it’s him. Smoking inside. Outside. All hours of the night. Any advice or tips on how to stop it? It’s currently illegal in Santa Monica to do so. He is a vet and I think a little mentally ill so kindly approaching him will most likely do no good. He’ll lie and deny it or say yes and keep going. Any advice on this would be appreciated. I’m at my wits end.
