Description
SMITHFIELD, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is warning that delays are possible starting Monday due to the latest lane shifts involved with the Farnum Pike Bridge Replacement Project. The temporary shift of northbound travel lanes will occur where Route 146 passes over Route 104.
The shifts will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays.
RI DOT said the shift is necessary as part of the $13.9-million project that will completely replace the structurally deficient bridge. The shifts will be similar to the right lane shift on southbound lanes last summer. The shifts move traffic away from the median where the temporary bridge structure will be built to accommodate future lane shifts that will be needed to fully replace the bridge.
RI DOT said activities will ramp up in the spring and the project will be done in Summer 2022.
