SMITHFIELD, RI — Smithfield Public Schools will host a virtual parents forum on Thursday to discuss the virtual option for parents to start the school year next month.
The forum will begin at 7 p..m. and will provide an opportunity for parents to ask questions and learn more information. From that discussion, a FAQ document will be created and posted.
Gov. Gina Raimondo said on July 29 that all parents and guardians in the state will have the option to allow their students to learn remotely to start the school year whether an in-classroom option is available or not. Raimondo said a decision will be announced on the in-classroom option on Aug. 16 or Aug. 17.
The deadline for registering for the virtual option at Smithfield Public Schools is Aug. 12.
"Good plans cannot be accomplished last minute and we want the best for our students," Smithfield Public School said.
