Yarbrough, a well-known artist and expert in southern American architecture, and Oliphant, a recently retired Professor of English, a longtime member of the Hemingway Society, and author of two books about the author’s life, will share the best Hemingway stories Key West has to offer. Come walk the very steps that Hemingway took with two very knowledgeable and entertaining guides who love the island as much as he did. This tour concludes with Hemingway-inspired beverages on the Custom House porch at sunset. The rum beverages will be provided by The Hemingway Rum Company. About our Guides: Dr. Ashley Oliphant, the author of five books, is a recognized expert in subjects ranging from Ernest Hemingway to legendary pirates. A Hemingway scholar, Oliphant has written two books on the subject of Hemingway’s life and work as well. She authored a novel about Key West and a best-selling book on shark tooth hunting that sold more than 10,000 copies.   Her latest work, Jean Laffite Revealed, is co-authored with Beth Yarbrough. As a mother-daughter research team, Oliphant and Yarbrough uncover new evidence that sheds fascinating light on the true fate and secret later life of the legendary pirate.   Oliphant is a retired English professor with twenty years of teaching experience in the college classroom that has included courses in freshmen composition and American literature. Based in North Carolina, she and her family divide their time between various coastal destinations, spending as many hours as possible by the water’s edge.    Beth Yarbrough is a seasoned and successful author, artist, and photographer whose depictions of historic homes and structures across the South are featured on her website Southern Voice and in her extensive collection of published calendars and fine art prints. Additionally, her licensed artwork in the home decor industry is entering its fourth decade of success, having reached millions of consumers worldwide. From her home base in North Carolina, Beth travels the backroads of the South in search of great architecture, interesting stories, and slices of Southern culture that are a daily delight to her thousands of followers on Facebook and Instagram. Her latest book, Jean Laffite Revealed: Unraveling One Of America’s Longest Running Mysteries, is set for release on March 15, 2021, via the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press.
