Description

On Maundy Thursday we remember Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples and His New Commandment, by gathering all ages for a simple meal. Maundy Thursday is the day in Holy Week where we gather to remember Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples. At that meal he instituted communion as an ongoing practice for his church, and gave us a "new commandment" (in Latin, commandment is mandatum). The command he gave to his church was this: that we love one another. At Penney this Maundy Thursday, we are excited to return to what had been our practice before COVID: we will gather for a simple meal at 6 pm. Then at 6:30, we'll move to the sanctuary for a simple service of singing, Scripture readings, a children's sermon, and communion. All ages are welcome. As we remember Jesus' command and the way He first loved us, we want to gather as many from our community as we can, of all ages. To help us plan, if you are a parent bringing children, please indicate this by including your children in the number of (free) tickets you request.
