SMITHFIELD, RI —The Smithfield Police Department's main telephone line will be out of service for upgrades on Jan. 23 from midnight to 2 a.m. Smithfield 911 service will not be affected. If there is any type of emergency that evening do not hesitate to call 911. The Smithfield Police Department thanks residents for their cooperation during the upgrades to 401-231-2500.
