Description

WOONSOCKET, RI — Smithfield police said two Massachusetts men are charged in connection of armed robberies in northern Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Police said Ronald Robb, 34, was charged Tuesday in the armed robbery of the Pick-and-Pay Convenience Store on Jan. 9, while Patrick Dandeneau, 30, was also charged in connection to the crime spree. Police said Robb, of Blackstone, MA, was charged after Smithfield detectives investigated the armed robbery at the convenience store on Putnam Pike where the clerk told police he was robbed at gunpoint. Police said video surveillance showed the suspect entering the store wearing a mask and showing a black handgun. Police said the suspect then took the entire register with him as he fled. Police determined the Smithfield robbery was connected to several other convenience store robberies in the area. Police said Dandeneau, of Blackstone, MA, was charged in several of those robberies. Police obtained a warrant for Robb specific to the Smithfield robbery and said Robb turned himself in to Smithfield police on Wednesday morning. Robb was held without bail and scheduled to return to court on Feb. 25 for a bail violation hearing. Smithfield police said an investigation continues into the incidents and that anyone with information on them is asked to contact Smithfield detectives at 401-231-2500.
