Since 1968, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities has presented Humanitarian Awards annually to honor individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of respect and understanding among people of diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. On occasion, local corporations or organizations are recognized with the Distinguished Merit Award for their efforts in making Virginia’s communities more inclusive.
At this time, VCIC is planning an in-person event, but the organization will continue to monitor the latest guidance from the CDC as the event grows closer to make sure that the Awards are conducted with utmost care for the health and safety of all.
2022 Humanitarian Award recipients are:
William J. Bodine
Christina Delzingaro
JoAnn B. Martin
Nina V. Salmon
T.D. & Virginia Thornton
See complete list of former VCIC honorees.
In addition to honoring outstanding community members, the Humanitarian Awards Dinners also serve as a platform to showcase for the mission and programs of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.
