Description

NORTHPORT, NY — Rebecca, a 2-year-old gray tortie, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week. She was found in a colony in Greenlawn, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. "She was scared and confused as to why she was there but sweet and friendly," Wild said. "She clearly did not belong in the colony, and from her temperament, we are sure she was once someone's pet. Whether she was lost or abandoned, attempts were made to find her home with no luck. She has such a wonderful personality we could not leave her behind and so we took her in to the rescue." Rebecca waits patiently in her habitat cage each day for volunteers from the rescue to arrive and give her some love. "She has been so gracious, it's as though she is just thankful to be warm and have food and friends," Wild said. "She craves attention and our volunteers have all fallen in love with sweet Rebecca. She loves to be petted, and while in foster care, would curl up by her foster parents to cuddle. She was also quite talkative and loves to play with her favorite toy, her catnip mouse." She can be met at Doggie Dons in East Northport. "She is ready for her journey to come to an end and is longing to be adopted into her forever home," Wild said. Rebecca is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. If you are interested in meeting Rebecca, you may head to the Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet her or any of our wonderful kittens and cats.
