Book Club @ The Miller Room -- PRICELESS: HOW I WENT UNDERCOVER TO RESCUE THE WORLD'S STOLEN TREASURES by Robert K. Wittman Please join us for the Miller Room's bi-monthly book club for adults! We are reading a rotating selection of fiction and non-fiction books and short stories relating to various topics on the arts/performing arts, Asian heritage and culture, libraries and special collections, our local Long Beach/Southern California area history, and much more. Our next Miller Room Book Club meeting will take place in-person on Tuesday, April 26th, from 5:30-7pm. This month we’ll be reading the 2010 New York Times bestselling memoir, Priceless: How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World's Stolen Treasures by Robert K. Wittman. This book recounts the amazing career and exploits of former FBI agent Robert Wittman, who created the agency's Art Crime Team. Wittman "...pursued a lifelong interest in antiques and collectibles, [and] goes undercover to hobnob with infamous art thieves. The ineffective, the stupid, the clever, and the dangerous; Wittman befriends them all, in order to betray them, a fact that causes him a certain amount of angst. Among other challenges are bumbling agency bureaucrats and government turf wars when attempting to recover stolen art abroad...'" (Publishers Weekly) This meeting will take place in the Miller Room (on the 1st floor of the Billie Jean King Main Library) and will have limited seating (maximum of 10-12 people per meeting), so registration is required to attend. The Billie Jean King Main Library is located at 200 W. Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Pacific. Library parking is available in the structure at Broadway & Chestnut Avenue. With library validation, parking is free for the first 30 minutes and $2 for 2 hours; daily maximum is $12. Can't make the event?
