PROVIDENCE, RI — The Providence Bruins will honor Colby Cave's commitment to community service and helping those in need during his five years playing for the franchise with the Colby Cave Memorial Award. Cave, who died in April of a brain hemorrhage, played for parts of five seasons with Providence and in 23 games with the Boston Bruins. The award, which will be given out in partnership with the Cave family, will go to a player each season for his dedication to community service and charitable organizations. "From the first day he stepped into the Dunkin' Donuts Center to the day he left for the NHL, Colby Cave inspired each and every one of us with his diligence, selflessness and compassion," said Providence coach Jay Leach on Tuesday. "Always the first to help, both with his teammates, and throughout our community, Colby set the precedent that we aspire to uphold." The Providence Bruins, in partnership with the Cave Family and the Boston Bruins Foundation, are proud to announce the creation of the Colby Cave Memorial Award to honor his commitment to helping those in need.
