From the City of Providence: All Youth 18 and Under Can Pick-Up a Free, Packaged Dinner from 4PM-6PM Weekdays, Beginning Wednesday, March 18 Posted March 16, 2020 PROVIDENCE, RI—The City of Providence today announced that it will be offering free, packaged dinner meals Wednesday, March 18 at each of Providence's eleven recreation centers. Meals can be picked up between 4:00PM and 6:00PM weekdays by residents 18 and under but they must be personally present at the distribution site. No ID is required. These meals are in addition to grab and go breakfast and lunches available at school locations across the city. "While we continue to take the steps necessary to fight the spread of this virus, we also need to make sure that our families and youth have access to the foods they depend on for the next week," said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. "For many of our students, school and after school programs are where they have consistent access to healthy and nutritious foods. That's why we have worked with our partners to ensure that all youth, 18 years and younger, can get the breakfast and lunches they would get in school, and the dinners they would receive at our recreation centers, all while protecting our community's health and safety." Services will be located at the front entrance of each recreation center. Families will not be allowed into buildings and are urged to follow the recommended hygiene and social distancing practices- 6 feet of space- at the time of pick up. Residents are encouraged to visit the recreation center closest to them: Vincent Brown 438 Hope St. Providence RI 20906 Phone: 401-680-7362 John H.
