Press release from the City of Providence: May 8, 2020 Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced updates to his latest executive order which will open local golf courses under additional restrictions, effective Saturday, May 9. Through this executive order, golf courses may open subject to submission and approval of a safety plan to the Parks Commissioner and Public Safety Commissioner and in compliance with all restrictions provided through Executive Order by the Governor of Rhode Island. Additionally, any person who is in a place open to the public, whether indoors or outdoors, shall cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth covering. Those two years old or younger or whose health would be damaged by wearing a face covering shall be exempt. All other COVID-19 related guidelines included in the latest executive order remain in place, effective through June 5. Residents are urged to follow all current social distancing and hygiene practices. Additional updates are anticipated as regulations change at the State level.
