Worker Injured After Confronting Store Thief In Arlington: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — Police said they are looking for a man who stole a pack of cigarettes and attacked a store employee in the process. Around 1:05 a.m. Friday, police said they were dispatched to a report of an assault in the 1100 block of S. George Mason Drive. Once on scene, police said they determined that around 12:57 a.m., a man entered a business and stole a pack of cigarettes. As the suspect exited into the parking lot of the business, police said an employee confronted him and a verbal dispute ensued, during which the suspect struck the employee in the face and fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and did not require the treatment of medics, police said. The suspect is described as a Black man, approximately 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black winter coat and black pants. Police did not identify the name of the store. The investigation is ongoing.
