WALLINGFORD, CT — A suspect fired gunshots after a resident interrupted the theft of catalytic converters early Sunday morning in Wallingford, according to police. Police responded to 69 South Turnpike Road around 2:35 a.m. on the report of shots fired, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques. The theft was committed by three men who were wearing ski-type masks and dark clothing. "After the victim interrupted them, one of the suspects chambered and fired a round from an unknown type of handgun," Jaques wrote in a news release. No injuries were reported, according to Jaques. Image via the Wallingford Police DepartmentThe men left in a brown 2011 or newer Honda Accord (pictured), which had a possible Massachusetts registration. "The Wallingford Police Department would like to remind citizens to call the police as soon as possible after a crime has occurred, or prior to the crime occurring, if at all possible," Jaques wrote. "It's always best to let police handle a dangerous situation however, always use extreme caution when making a decision to confront someone committing a crime."
