GREENWICH, CT — According to the Greenwich Police Department, there has been an uptick in unleashed dogs throughout town, and complaints have been coming into the Chief's office. Residents are being reminded about leash compliance. According to town code, from April 1 to Nov. 30, no animals are allowed on any beach. All dogs must be kept on a secure leash at all times on public school grounds and all public parks. The leash must be less than 10 feet in length and dog handlers or owners must provide for the prompt removal of feces, should the dog defecate in said areas. "We are asking for resident and visitor compliance with this matter. A dog owner/handler may be charged with an infraction for violating this law," police said in a Facebook post Sunday. GPD Animal Control and post cars will be checking for violators, police said.
