Description

Press release from the City of Santa Cruz: December 10, 2020 SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — This week, as part of the Rail Trail Segment 7/Phase I project, new ALL-WAY stop sign control has been installed at the intersection of Bay Street/California Street. This provides trail users the opportunity to cross Bay Street at California Street with traffic stopped. To keep traffic flowing on Bay Street the project also removed the stop sign control on both eastbound and westbound Bay Street at California Avenue. This results in cross traffic no longer stopping on Bay Street for traffic heading north on California Avenue. The intersection of Seaside Street and Rankin Street has also been converted to ALL-WAY stop sign control, allowing for trail users to cross each street with traffic stopped. The new stop sign controls will have substantial impact on traffic, bike and pedestrian circulation. Additional warning signage has been added at each intersection to alert drivers of the recent changes. Project questions or concerns may be addressed to Project Manager Nathan Nguyen at [email protected] or (831) 420-5188. This press release was produced by the City of Santa Cruz.
