Press release from the City of Reno: March 24, 2022 The City of Reno Senior Citizen Advisory Committee and the City of Reno Arts and Culture Committee are joining together to honor the creativity of Reno's seniors with the Senior Artists Exhibit and Show during Older Americans Month. The scheduled month-long display will be April 25 – June 3 at the historic McKinley Arts & Culture Center on Riverside Drive in Reno. Individuals ages 60 and older are invited to submit entries for the Senior Artists Exhibit and Show on April 13, 14 or 15 at McKinley Arts & Culture Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. "A call has gone out to seniors to put their creativity caps on," Paco Lachoy, Chairman of the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee said. "Art is many things from painting, printmaking, crafting, needlepoint, crochet, sculpting, pottery, or jewelry making. It could even be flower arranging! The Committee is looking forward to showcasing the talents of our older population and seeing just how creative and talented they are." Information about the exhibit and show can be heard on the We Are Community radio program every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. on KFOY 1060 AM and found under Older Americans Month. "We are looking forward to having this new and exciting event for the community to enjoy," said Megan Berner, Arts & Culture Manager at the City of Reno. "The exhibit will be open to the public Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the McKinley East Gallery." All types of artistic media will be considered for display. The gallery is best suited for two-dimensional works and small three-dimensional works that can be placed on pedestals. Paintings, photography, drawings or prints must be framed with a wire on the back. The gallery space is programmed for the general public and all artwork must be appropriate for this setting.
