MAPLEWOOD, MN — Another Perkins restaurant that's called the Twin Cities metro home for decades recently closed in Maplewood, according to a report. The Maplewood Perkins served its last meals Sunday after owner Deb Pedro sold the business to Unison Restaurant and Banquet, which operates next door, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports. Pedro, who has owned the Maplewood Perkins for the last 20 years, told the Twin Cities Pioneer Press that she wasn't ready to sign on for another five years with Perkins, with her franchise agreement due to expire in September. Woodbury School Finishes 3rd At Boys Basketball State Tournament Pedro said she realized how much the restaurant meant to the local community when many Lions clubs in the area helped support the Maplewood Perkins through tough times amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the report states. The Maplewood location is at least the second longtime Perkins in the Twin Cities area to close in recent weeks. A Perkins in Edina closed at the start of March after serving customers for almost 50 years.
