Here are the top five stories in Denver today: People of color believe they will benefit from the Idaho Roll if Gov. Jared Polis signs the bill. Black and brown riders think that the recently passed stop sign bill will keep them safer from cars and police. (Aspen Times) Some of the birds at the Denver Zoo have the avian influenza. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the type of avian influenza virus that's been detected at the zoo usually does not infect people. (Patch) Not even the sidewalks are safe in Denver for people. Two pedestrians were injured on Sunday when a car jumped the curb after a crash with another car near 14th Avenue and Logan Street. (9News) No, it wasn't national donut day in downtown Denver on Sunday night. Screeeching tires were heard, and drivers were filmed doing donuts and blocking traffic in intersections last Sunday night. It wasn't just one location either – there were several of these auto sideshows that were happening near the corner of 20th Street and Market Street, the 16th Street Mall and Arapahoe Street and then over at the parking lot of the Downtown Aquarium on Water Street. (CBS4)Denver continues to arrest the homeless at DIA. The Denver Police Department indicates they have arrested 19 homeless Denver International Airport so far this year.
