In celebration of Earth Day weekend, you are invited to the upcoming overnight camping trip at Mauch Chunk Lake. This is a LIMITED TICKETED EVENT! Please read all info and click on the EventBrite link to obtain a ticket. Saturday, April 23 thru Sunday, April 24, 2022 1:30 pm to 11 am This includes dinner on Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning. We have already reserved one (1) tent site that holds 6 people, and one (1) nearby cabin site that also holds 6 people. So we have room for a maximum of 12 people for overnight camping. The total is $133 for the campsites. There will be other costs such as food, firewood, paper goods, etc. We can park 1 vehicle (maybe 2) directly next to each site. All other vehicles will be parked a short walking distance away and will need to pay a $10 fee per car. We will share the cost of this too. If we get all 12 spots filled, it would be $11 each plus shared food costs and sharing the extra car parking costs. Unfortunately right now I don't have an exact total. I'd assume $30 each when all is said and done. This assumes all 12 spots are filled. If less than that, the price per person will adjust accordingly. We will be reasonable with the food choices. If you can't stay overnight, but still want to attend to hang out and have dinner, we can accommodate that too (you need to be out of the campgrounds by 10pm). We would just need to know so we can have enough dinner food for everyone. We haven't finalized costs yet, but assume $10 to $15 for food and parking. This will also be limited to an additional 12 folks. You must click the EventBrite link below to get a ticket. Tickets are limited because we have limited space around the camp areas. There are three ticket options. 1. Just attending dinner 2. Attending dinner AND camping overnight (tent) 3. Attending dinner AND camping overnight (cabin) It notes "free". We will collect money either via Venmo or PayPal (@ChuckWalks) or cash, on event day. We can't officially check in until 2pm on Saturday, and have to be out by 11am on Sunday. If the sites aren't rented Friday night, we might be able to set up early. ****************************** Meet here at 1:30 pm so we can all check in together: 625 Lentz Trail Jim Thorpe, PA 18229 This is the site of the Carbon County Parks office, right next to the lake. ******************************* REMEMBER: This is a rain 🌧 or shine 🌞 event (only canceled if dangerous weather is expected) so please dress appropriately and in layers and bring all of the appropriate gear so you are comfortable for this outdoor adventure. If rain is expected, please wear waterproof or other appropriate clothing as this event is entirely OUTDOORS. If you need help with gear, post in the discussion. Many of us have extra tents and other gear we can share. More info: - You can kayak on the lake. We can launch right from our tent site, or from the launch near the Park Office - There are restrooms with showers - There is a small playground and other basic amenities, including a Camp Store - You cannot sleep in your vehicle. You have to be one of the 6 in a tent or one of the 6 for the cabin. - there is electric available inside the cabin - You can come up as a guest for the afternoon/evening (if you aren't staying overnight) but would need to be out by 10 pm - Each car (beyond the one or possibly a second at each of the two sites) would have to pay a $10 parking fee. However, I think if people can possibly carpool it will help keep this cost down. - Everyone has to register when you arrive whether you are staying overnight or just for dinner. - Dogs are not allowed Additional info: https://www.carboncounty.com/index.php/park NOTE: For liability purposes, this is NOT an official ChuckWalks event. This is just a gathering of like-minded folks who are connected by the ChuckWalks group. Chuck would like to participate and relax, so Chuck will not be doing any formal "guiding". However👇👇👇 ADDITIONAL EARTH DAY EVENT! The weekly ChuckWalks event is also scheduled for Saturday morning on the nearby trails.
