Heartland Storage is a growing company seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to fill our year-round, full-time, facility maintenance position. We are looking for someone who is experienced in commercial construction The primary work location will be from Chicago through Northern and Central Indiana into southwest Michigan. Additional areas may be added at the discretion of the Facility Maintenance supervisor. Travel outside of these areas may occur appx 1-2 days per week. The maintenance manager would be responsible for general repairs of storage units as well as exterior building repairs. Overview of position: Handling all maintenance requests (door repair, leak repair, light plumbing, minor electrical work). Receive assignments and travel to different facilities to make needed repairs or perform preventative maintenance. Communicate frequently with Regional and Facilities Managers. Replace parts or install new equipment when appropriate. Paint, stain, repair, and install drywall, including the construction of new walls and partitions when appropriate. Use ladders, lifts, and other types of equipment to access areas requiring repair or maintenance. Perform other duties as required/assigned. Job requirements: Reliable, conscientious, detail-oriented, self-motivated. Ability to work independently and with a crew with strong time management skills. Must have knowledge in carpentry, commercial gates and their operating systems, as well as garage door functions. Must have knowledge of most areas of commercial repairs – minor plumbing, minor electrical, drywall, ceiling tile/grid, floor tile, painting, concrete repair, etc. Possession of a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. Minimum of 2 years of general construction experience or job-related experience. Forklift certification is a plus Starting rate is $15-$18/hr.
