BURNSVILLE, MN — Burnsville High School announced that Zoie Dundan is this year's Athena Award winner.
The Athena Award is based on excellence in individual sports and/or accomplishments in team sports, ISD 191 said.
Dundan is a three-sport athlete, playing cross country, hockey and track, the district said.
Here is a list of her accomplishments in high school sports:
She holds a total of 12 varsity letters, including two in soccer.She has been named "MVP" five times during her athletic career so far.She has received eight conference and eight section awards.She was co-captain of the school's girl's hockey team.She holds the school records for the 800m, 1600m and 5km races in cross country.Dundan's successes aren't just in sports. According to the district, she has a 3.8 GPA, is president of student council, a part of National Honors Society and has received several academic awards for student athletes.
Dundan will attend University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in the fall on a track and cross country scholarship, and plans to major in business, the district said.
"Zoie is well-deserving of this award," Burnsville High School Athletics Director Guillaume Paek said. "She is an athlete who not only excels in all three of her sports but also provides leadership and integrity in everything she does. The University of Minnesota is lucky to have Zoie represent their sports programs and institution as a whole. She is an amazing athlete, but more importantly, a better human being."
Dundan will receive her award May 6 at the 50th Anniversary Awards Luncheon, according to the district.
