SHOREWOOD, IL — During the past year, a lot has changed with the village of Shorewood's leadership. Among the notables, there is a new mayor, a new village manager, a new economic development director and a new police chief. On Thursday night, Shorewood area residents are invited to attend a community open house at Shorewood's Village Hall to discuss Shorewood's long-range comprehensive plan. The event will go from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. According to the village's Designing Shorewood website, "The comprehensive plan is a long-range strategy that will guide Shorewood's future development and address village needs about housing, commercial areas, industrial uses, and economic development. It will also evaluate transportation and infrastructure requirements and include a recreation master plan." Shorewood Mayor Clarence "CC" DeBold told Patch he's hoping to gather feedback from residents on topics such as where would be a good location for townhouses or apartments if someone wanted to build in Shorewood. He also wants to gather citizens input on whether there is another area of land that would be suitable to put another business park in Shorewood. And, as Shorewood nears 20,000 in population, DeBold said communities in the range of 20,000 to 25,000 population often draw more interest from national restaurants looking to expand across the country. Right now, Shorewood has 18,000 residents. Above all, "We want to make sure we have a blueprint to go west," DeBold said. Image via village of Shorewood
