NEW LENOX, IL — After a successful soft opening over the weekend, Bourbons Smokehouse is set for its official grand opening Wednesday at 280 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox. A ribbon cutting ceremony with the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the restaurant will be open for service at 11 a.m.
The soft opening was so popular that Bourbons Smokehouse ran out of some menu items by around 4:30 p.m. Saturday and again around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. But, as any barbecue fans worth their sauce know, the trick is to get there early because the products are made fresh daily and can run out before closing time.
Pit Master Joe Regiro — who co-owns Bourbons Smokehouse with his wife, Tonya Regiro — has spent the past 20 years working to perfect his South Side-style barbecue flavor. His philosophy is that the meats should be so good that they don't need sauce to cover up the flavor, though Bourbons Smokehouse does offer its own homemade sauces for those who want just a little added complementary kick with their barbecue.
The restaurant also offers its own fresh homemade sides, including mac and cheese, baked potatoes, fries and tater tots.
Bourbons Smokehouse is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. But, remember, the early bird gets the best barbecue.
