JOLIET, IL — A 30-year-old Joliet man who Joliet police say fell asleep behind the steering wheel of his car Monday night at the traffic light for Ruby and Broadway Streets is now in the Will County Jail facing felony DUI charges. Juan Arreola, who lives in the 700 block of Garnsey Avenue, is charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, aggravated driving while license suspended and transportation of open alcohol by a driver. Around 7:45 p.m., squad cars were sent to Broadway and Ruby Streets for a report of an unresponsive man in his car. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance raced to the scene as well. When paramedics and police officers found Arreola asleep in the driver's seat, they woke him up, according to police spokesman Dwayne English. Arreola showed signs of alcohol impairment and officers found open containers of alcohol within his vehicle, according to English. The ambulance brought Arreola to St. Joe's hospital, and Joliet police determined that Arreola's driver's license was previously suspended for another DUI case, according to Sgt. English. Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, Arreola was discharged from St. Joe's. Joliet police drove him to the Will County Jail, and he was booked into detention at 6:15 a.m. On Tuesday, a Will County judge set bail at $10,000.
