JOLIET, IL — Joliet police were investigating a shooting Tuesday night on Fairmont Avenue that involved at least 16 gunshots heard by residents in the Forest Park area.
Joliet's Bob Hernandez said he was already in the area producing Facebook Live Videos with two of his guests. According to Hernandez, one of his guests alerted him to return to Fairmont because a shooting had occurred around 10 p.m.
Two Joliet Fire Department ambulances responded to the shooting in an area of the city's east side long known as The Hill. Around 10:20 p.m., at least seven Joliet police were still at the scene investigating the crime and interviewing possible witnesses.
UPDATE: By 10:40 p.m., more Joliet police were on the scene of another nearby shooting incident. Police had converged on the area of Meeker and Charlesworth Avenues.
Hernandez said it's about a two-minute drive from the shooting on Fairmont Avenue to the gunshots in the middle of the intersection at Meeker and Charlesworth.
