Here are the top five stories in Concord today: The Shortcut Pipeline is the primary source of drinking water for the city of Martinez. It needs fixing. Today, the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors will consider signing a letter to support the Contra Costa Water District's (CCWD) pursuit of grant funding for the $14 million project. CCWD anticipates the project will go to bid February 2023 and construction would run from August 2023 through December 2024. (Claycord.com)Two people were shot following an argument at Pinole Valley Bowl in Pinole Sunday night. A patron inside the bowling alley said things kicked off when a group of four people got into an argument with another group on a waiting list to bowl. Witnesses said a fight between two men was taken outside and "turned into gun fire." (News 24/680)The San Ramon Valley High School Robotics team this weekend emerged as a winner in the finals at the Monterey Bay Regional 2022 FIRST® Robotics Competition. Now the San Ramon Valley High School team is gearing up for a potential wild card slot at the national competition to be held April 20-23 in Houston. Potential sponsors and supporters are invited to contribute a tax-deductible donation to help with the team's robot re-tooling as it preps for its next competition. (News 24/680)Erik Elness, a 25-year Brentwood resident and business owner, filed paperwork with the Contra Costa County Elections Department on Friday, March 18 and was certified as an official 'Write-In Candidate' for the April 5 Assembly District 11 Special Election. A Republican, he is challenging Democrat Suisun City Mayor Lori Wilson who is the only candidate to file in the race. While her name will appear on the ballot, voters must write in Elness' name to vote for him. The winner will serve out the remainder of the term through the end of the year, in the current district which includes Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley, Discovery Bay, Bethel Island, Byron, Knightsen and portions of Pittsburg in the Contra Costa County part of the district. (Contra Costa Herald)On March 14, Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority (Tri Delta Transit) was awarded a $4 million grant as part of the FTA's (Federal Transit Administration) Bus and Bus Facilities Program. The grant will be used to build a hydrogen fueling station at the Tri Delta Transit facility in Antioch. As a region, Tri Delta Transit is one of three transit agencies in the nine bay area counties that received a grant award. The others were Napa and the City of Santa Rosa to buy electric buses and the related infrastructure.
