SAN RAMON, CA — A San Ramon nonprofit is collecting monitors from donors across the Bay Area to benefit Northern California teachers starting their school year with distance learning amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Vouch4Vets, which helps connect veterans with white-collar jobs, is switching gears to help connect teachers with larger monitors meant to make their jobs easier come the start of the school year.
"Just imagine trying to manage 25 7-year-olds on a 13-inch screen," wrote Executive Director David Brennan. "Impossible."
Brennan initially put a call-out on his Facebook page and sought to recruit a web of donors throughout the region. As the idea gained traction, he got his nonprofit involved.
So far Vouch4Vets has collected more than a dozen monitors and computers, thanks in large part to donations from Alamo IT company Portable CIO. It's a great start, Brennan said, but there are so many more teachers in need of supplies.
Anyone interested in donating their supplies may email [email protected] or call 800-884-1188.
