JOB TITLE: Heifer Farm Manager JOB DESCRIPTION: Tag Lane Dairy, a progressive dairy farm located in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. We are currently looking for a qualified individual to manage our heifer farm near Jefferson, WI. The farm manager will be responsible for feeding heifers daily, general herd health, regular manure removal, and maintaining all farm facilities and equipment. This individual will regularly communicate with farm owner to ensure full transparency of all farm operations. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills who has previous experience working with cattle and is passionate about agriculture. HOURS: Full-Time/Flexible (40-70+hr/week, Mon-Sat with flexible starts/end times) WAGE: $14.00-18.00/hour (compensation based on previous experience) RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Consistently feed total mixed rations to heifers: • Face forage bunkers daily to maintain safe feed storage • Accurately add forage & ingredients into feed mixer with skid loader or wheel loader. • Incorporate forage & ingredients into total mixed ration (TMR) • Evenly distribute total mixed ration (TMR) to specific heifer groups • Cut plastic and remove tires on bunkers twice a week 2. Remove manure daily and add sand weekly with skid loader & tractor in a safe and efficient manner: • Move cattle and clean manure from back of stalls into manure ally • Safely load manure into manure spreader utilizing a skid steer • Spread manure in fields evenly and document in manure hauling log • Add sand to free stalls once a week 3. Observe individual and group heifer health, body condition, and feed intake: • Identify and diagnose sick or lame heifers • Perform treatment to sick or lame heifers • Vaccinate heifers according to farm vaccination protocol • Document all treatments and vaccinations • Perform routine footbath schedule three or more days a week 4. Maintain equipment and facilities at the heifer farm: • Power wash skid loader, manure spreader, feed mixer and tractors • Grease and inspect skid loader, manure spreader, feed mixer and tractors • Clean water fountains weekly to insure clean water intake • Adjust curtains and fans based on temperature and weather QUALIFICATIONS: • VALID DRIVERS LICENSE • Minimum 2+ years of caring for animals (preferably cattle) • Previous experience operating large farm equipment/vehicles • General knowledge of fans, curtains, and water fountains • Self-motivated individual with a goal-oriented mindset • Excellent communication skills • Strong organization and time management skills
