Description

SAN RAMON VALLEY, CA — San Ramon Valley residents may see a smoke column or increased smoke over the region as firefighters in Santa Clara County conduct a burn operation in attempt to strengthen control over the fire, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District said. The increased level of smoke could last for a few days. Dubbed firing operations, firefighters may execute these to burn and eliminate vegetation between the fire and the control line, or to gain better control over the blaze. The firing operations are set to take place in and around Henry W. Coe State Park, where the southern border of the fire is burning, according to Cal Fire. The SCU Lightning Complex fires had burned 373,000 acres across seven counties as of Friday morning and were 35 percent contained.
