Description
Manage all live plant material that is on the loading dock shipping/receiving.
Assist with managing drivers
Maintaining good plant health while at the loading dock before shipping.
Make sure plants are watered when they are on the dock or going onto a truck.
Untie trees that will need it
Unbox or take boxed items to potting or propagation where they can be taken out of boxes as soon as possible
Make sure returning items are not on the dock for more than two days.
Place sensitive plants in the shade
Receive and grade plants (see receiving procedure)
Avoid working away from the dock
Count and Staging plants before shipping out.
Oversee Loading Dock Crew and ensure all members are following safety procedures including wearing all required PPE on a daily basis.
Train team to perform operations in a safe and courteous manner.
Must have the ability to discern what issues need to be brought to upper management.
Be an involved/engaged member of a team, extremely detailed, be willing to act and think independently.
Must be able to follow Standard operating procedure between varieties and inspect trucks for cleanliness in order to prevent cross contamination of varieties.
Monitor equipment to ensure it's in good working order, participate in the overall maintenance of the equipment - notify management of any necessary repairs or possible equipment concerns.
