Sample Receiving Technician & Light Facilities Maintenance

Our client, a well-established engineering and testing firm, located in Skokie, IL is seeking a temp-to-hire, full time Sample Receiving Technician who can also do light maintenance work. Core work hours 8AM – 4:30PM. Additional hours may be required for project work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervision and oversight of loading dock (80 percent of time) • Receiving of incoming material samples. • Opening boxes & packages by hand confirming items received, discrepancies, damage etc. • Entering samples into the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). • Utilizing computer skills to enter sample information into a LIMS system • Use of LIMS for receiving, storing, & distributing incoming materials. • Maintaining access to multiple parts in the building • Frequent lifting of materials • Deliver materials and mail to appropriate recipients. Facility Maintenance & Improvement (20 percent of time) • Preferred mechanical aptitude skills: carpentry/ electrical/ mechanical Preferred Experience: Some college coursework or relevant technical certification (e.g., Mechanical, electrical, etc.) Experience with entering sample information into a computer system is essential Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and vocational training 2+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong verbal and written skills and familiarity with MS Word & Excel.
